When Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd, that meant more than people realize.
A shepherd doesn’t just own sheep, he lives with them, and they know each other and stay together when things get dangerous.
Jesus didn’t say “I’m a good teacher.” He said “I’m the Good Shepherd.” A teacher gives advice and leaves. A shepherd stays. He knows every mess you’ve made and still calls you HIS.
Sheep wander, so do we, but he’s the one who comes after us and brings us back. We’re not strong enough to find our own way.
We just have a Shepherd faithful enough to lead us home.
