The Antidote for Fear

Trust in God; trust also in me.

John 14:1, NIV

Jesus commanded His disciples to “trust in God; trust also in me.” The antidote for fear is faith.

When I toss and turn in the middle of the night, worried and fearful over something that is impending in my life or the life of someone I love, I am comforted and calmed as I meditate on Who God is. It helps me plant my faith in Someone Who is bigger than my fears. I just fall back on Who God is and rest in Him. He cannot be less than Himself! And my God is God!

Your Kindness Quotient

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10

What is your kindness quotient?

When was the last time you did something kind for someone in your family? What about your school or workplace?

Who is the most overlooked or avoided? A shy student? A grumpy employee?

Maybe he doesn’t speak the language. Maybe she doesn’t fit in. Are you kind to this person?

Kind hearts are quietly kind. They let the car cut into traffic. They let the young mom with three kids move up in the checkout line.

When God decides to bless, He does not know how to be miserly. Hence, Psalms 68:19 says He releases loads of blessings on a daily basis. Jesus taught us to ask for our daily bread (Matthew 6:11). Love Means Discipline

  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and
repent.
Revelation 3:19

The Lord said, “If I love you, I will rebuke you.” People transpose
this statement. They think that love means allowing people to do what
they want and never saying a cross word, but God doesn’t love that way.
The Lord will chasten you, and He chastens you with His Word. What are
you to do when He does? Hebrews 12:1 says that we are to “lay aside
every weight.” In other words, we are to make up our mind and act.

You get through tough times in the same manner as Jesus. Jesus had the
strength to endure the beatings and the crucifixion by focusing on what
God was going to give Him. You have to look at the joy. You have to see

The History of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God 60^th Anniversary

In July 1909, a son was born into the Akindayomi family of Ondo State of Nigeria. Even though this child grew up surrounded by idol worshippers, he knew there existed a greater power and yearned to know, “The God Who created the earth and everyone on it”. This pursuit for God led him to the Church Missionary Society where he was baptized in 1927. Still spiritually unfulfilled, he joined the Cherubim and Seraphim church in 1931.

Whilst there, he began to hear a voice within him saying, “You will be my servant.” Since this was not his intention, he decided to ignore the voice. God’s Mercy Endures Forever

MATTHEW 12:20, “A bruised reed shall he not break, and a smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgement unto victory.”

One of the ways in which God‘s goodness is revealed is in mercy. We may describe mercy as the readiness of God to relieve the misery of fallen creatures. Many times, mercy is called compassion or loving kindness. It is expressed toward the sinner because of the misery that sin has brought upon him.

The “reed” referred to in this passage is probably speaking of the reeds that grew in the marshy areas in the land of Palestine. These were very fragile and could be easily bruised or broken. The term “smoking flax” refers to a linen wick which was made from flax and burned brightly when floating…

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

How many times do you struggle with your own personal needs? How many times do you wrestle with trying to meet them on your own? How often do you waste energy trying to figure things out for yourself? You plan, set out a strategy and work to make ends meet.

Why do you do this when God tells you to come boldly to His throne? In other words, you should come with great confidence, filled with faith because God has prepared this throne of grace for you.

People hate change, or so I hear. But the change we generally resist is the kind that we think will make our situation worse rather than better. We eagerly change jobs when it means higher pay and more influence. We happily move to a bigger house in a better neighbourhood. So it’s not change in general that we hate; it’s change that involves loss—sometimes physical; other times emotional or psychological.

Change is both inevitable and necessary. If everything stays the same, no one is growing. But we have a Shepherd who guides us through change and leads us to a better place. Whenever a tsunami warning is given on the northern coastline of Maui, Hawaii, the people living in Hana rush up the side of a mountain to a high place of safety. Nearby is a tall wooden cross that was placed there many years ago by missionaries. For their physical safety, people run to the area where the cross is located.

In a similar way, all of us need a place of spiritual safety. Why? Because the Lord gives us these warnings in His Word: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and “the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 3:23; 6:23). When Tarah was in high school, she had a growing fear that she would someday battle a serious illness. So she began to pray—asking God to spare her from this imagined illness. Then she reached a turning point in her thinking, and she yielded her future to God no matter what.

Years later, Tarah’s doctor found a cancerous tumor, which was successfully treated with chemotherapy. Tarah says that because she had entrusted her future to God, she was ready when the disease came. Her problem became an avenue for God’s strength.

Forgiveness is a choice not a feeling.

Matthew 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, Your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Forgiving someone is giving it to God, refusing to try and vindicate yourself. Forgiveness takes time, and it’s a choice that needs to be made, it is not a feeling! Choose to forgive, lay it down and surrender that hurt and anger to God. Allow Him to heal your broken heart and don’t allow un-forgiveness to keep you from what God has for you.

Holiness is sanctification and separation unto God-which is what we are called to as believers.
Preachers of old like John Wesley knew that holiness was a command and not an option. They lived their lives in humble dedication to God. They served God, worked tirelessly, studied God’s Word diligently and prayed without ceasing. Psalms 65:4 says, “Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.”
