The Store of Happiness

The-Beatitudes

The other night, I listened to a Francis Chan message on YouTube. He was talking about the abounding, backward joy we experience when we suffer for Jesus’ sake. One of his comments has been running circles in my mind:

“In the Beatitudes, it’s like Jesus walked into the store of happiness and changed all the price tags.”

That comment has inspired this post.

You walk in, and you are met by a salesman. Inscribed on his name tag are the letters D-E-C-E-I-T.

“Hello sir! Welcome! My name is Deceit, and I’m here to guide your experience through The Store of Happiness today. Is there anything in particular you are looking for?”

“Hi, umm..”

You’re puzzled. Perplexed. Deceit’s smile looks so gentle, and his voice rings so sweet. But his eyes look peculiar. Shifty. You’re not sure if you can trust him.

“Well, I don’t suppose so. I was told that this store has every…

What Your Wedding Ring Means To You

firengasmarriagerescue's avatarFire n Gas Marriage Rescue

As I reflect back on the years of affairs and how many times I looked down at my wedding ring wondering what it “really meant” to me.  As we went through one of the last affairs, I thought I wanted another wedding ring as that defined what my marriage was.  In my mind E had defied everything it was suppose to mean. It wasn’t the ring that defined my marriage, it was the love I have for E that made the ring more special and the commitment to stay with him no matter what he was struggling with.

Today my mother and I were talking about my grandmothers wedding ring.  My mother wants to wear it and yet it makes her miss my grandmother. My grandmother would’ve wanted her to wear it. It should remind her if the love that my grandmother had for my grandfather. The love that made…

Is Social Reform Our Calling As Christians?

daxhughes's avatarInfected Saint

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

Our world is a mess. Fake news, disunity, racism, immorality, hatred, fear… the list goes on. What is our duty as a Christian? Are we the ones to try and fix this? To make all the social woes go away? Is God calling us to reform this nation and make it a better place? My head is spinning lately. I feel overwhelmed and it seems everything I say is emotionally charged and polarizing to someone. This is a scary climate we are in and it’s difficult to know how to navigate.

What did Jesus do? He is our greatest example on how to engage the culture. A deep study of his life shows something very differently than how…

Praise; Key to God’s Blessing

ckeminternational's avatarCHRIST KINGDOM EXPANSION MISSION INTERNATIONAL

TOPIC:   Praise Key to God’s Blessing

Text:        Psalm 112:1-3

Preacher: Pastor Adetula, Dorcas (Ph. D)

Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever..

WHAT IS PRAISE?

Praise means thanking someone for what we believe they will do for us. It means thanking God for  what He has not yet done for us. This is higher than thanksgiving. God promised to give Abraham a son and he believed God for it and praised Him. Between the time you ask something from God and the time you see its manifestation, fill the gap with PRAISE.

Praise means to boast about God. 1 Corinthians 1:31.

WHY DO WE NEED TO PRAISE GOD? Psalm 112:1-3

THE GOODNESS OF GOD

Chantai Robinson's avatarJust A Little More Faith

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:13‬ NKJV
TODAY’S WORD
We cannot earn and do not merit the goodness of God towards us. It is available to us regardless of where we are in life, and even though we are not worthy of it. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

We can have goodness in us, and even desire to do good, but true goodness comes from the One who is perfectly good and wants good things for all us.

Remember what you focus on is what you will see. No matter what the medical report says, no matter what your finances look like, no matter how bad that relationship may seem, be confident…

Neck Posture & Strength

pitch2cage's avatarPitch2cage

A strong neck is the back-bone for many physically intensive sports such as rugby, wrestling and back-liners in the NFL. For many poor sleeping positions and rigid sitting positions can lead to stiff and weak necks. Most people neglect neck strength, possessing a stronger neck has it’s benefits and will benefit your health in the long run.

In fact not much muscle surrounds the neck, that’s why it’s vital to maintain that small amount that acts as a conduit from the brain to the rest of the body. Building a strong neck will prevent further  damage and has been shown to reduce concussions according to Robert Cantu, MD is chief of Neurosurgery.

Gender reveal week

mamamoji's avatarlittlepeaweb

So this week was a 3 day week for me, meaning another nice long weekend! Work was quite busy, playing email catch ups and working up to some tight deadlines.

Fola and I went to see the wedding party2. It was funny but still doesn’t beat the 1st one. We had a good time.

Remember I said I wasn’t really getting any flutters and I thought it was odd. Well my scan on Friday confirmed everything was great. Baby’s heartbeat was perfect and all measurement was as expected. I thank God.

I haven’t been feeling much movement because of the position of the placenta. Baby is more cushioned so His movements are almost not noticeable and are ineffective. Hence why I haven’t felt any real movement.

I’m more dehydrated these days and need to drink more water and less juice and hot beverages. I have a glucose test next month…

What is Love?

Laidy's avatarLaidy of Christ

According to the Bible love is wanting something good to come to another person; being concerning and willing to work for another person’s benefit. Did the word WORK stick out as you read the definition? It did when I read it too.

Jesus worked so that we could obtain love. He worked for our benefit. Love is an action just like work is an action. So to love like God we might have to put in some work. For some the act of loving comes easy. For others , however, not so much. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” That’s a heavy load of work right there. What an extraordinary act of love! How many of you can say that you would give up your child to…

Feeling drained huh?

prophetcharleslight's avatarProphet Charles Light

Brothers and sisters our aggravations stem from a gift implanted in you by God . Inside of that seed is a solution to a problem. What are some of your biggest aggravations in life ? Once you figure out what it/they are , ask yourself two questions. Are you the only one that notices it ? Now, are you the only one that’s been through it ? The answer to the first question is probably a no. However , if the answer to the second question is yes ; then it sounds like you have found your ministry. In JESUS name. The weight of a healing spirit, does not have to be weighted at all. That is weight that you were not meant to carry. Life is a mission that requires two players . You , and God. Without God , the gift of a healing spirit feels more like…

The testimony of my resume

The Rescued Lamb's avatarThe Rescued Lamb

My resume has been through a lot. It was rejected, crumpled and rewritten over and over again. It was picked up from a very despised and confused pit and placed at a place totally undeserving.

Let me start from the beginning. The date of birth of my resume is on an unknown date in the year 2015. It was the last year of my college, the internship year! And also an year where the whole class was devising plans to land a job, any job! As soon as my resume was ready to go out to the world, it was sent mercilessly to any email address I could find.

Contrary to the common tide, I did not want to be in a hospital, did not want to have a clinical pharmacist job. So my resume first travelled to all the research organizations first. It was a futile phase, except for…

Relentless Love

iamsalmon's avatariamsalmon

Hey kids,
Happy Easter week :) Today I am reminded of the love that Jesus has for us. Actually, I take that back. I am blown away by the love of Jesus.
Something that has been on my heart A LOT recently is the idea of saying yes to what God has for me – whatever that may be. And with Easter fast approaching, that has led me to studying Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.
In case you’re not familiar with this story, I’ll catch you up: Jesus has just had His Last Supper with his disciples. He knows He’s about to be arrested and the events are about to begin that will eventually lead to his crucifixion. He is now in the Garden of Gethsemane praying.
Now, just so we’re clear, Jesus did not want to be crucified. He was a human person, He felt pain like…

I Have Found Some Peace At Last

vpittard888's avatarDIVINE POETRY

Now that the Lord has called for me, he has taken me to this wonderful land, and he said there was no need to worry, as he gently grabbed my hands. I can understand why you are weeping, but I am not that far away, but just remember that my body is sleeping, and it will rise once again someday. I never had intentions of leaving you, because you shouldn’t be left alone, but we all have to leave this world, because we know that this is not our home. The tears, the pain, and the suffering, all of those things have passed, by knowing that the Lord is with me, and I have found some peace at last.
