God Is Able To Do Exceedingly Abundantly Above All For You. Trust In Him! He Has Never Failed, And He Will Not Fail Now

“And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.”

I kings 17:13 (KJV)

2-Timothy_1-7-1: For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

2-Timothy_1-7-1: For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

Oftentimes, believers refuse to go the extra mile because of the fear of tomorrow. We are not too sure if God will come to our rescue when we need Him most, and so we hold back what we know we should give. The fear of giving her last and not having anything left to fall back on almost made the widow of Zarephath to hold back. Beloved, you need to understand that in the days we live in, except God helps you, the economy of the nation cannot sustain you. You need to walk in the revelation that if God does not keep you, your bank account certainly cannot keep you. You operate by the economy of Heaven and not by the economy of the world. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all for you. Trust in Him! He has never failed, and He will not fail now.

Another interesting feature of the story of the widow in 1 King 17 is the fact that the devil came around to steal her joy. The woman’s only son fell ill and died. The widow cried out and said, “What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Art thou come unto me to call my sins to remembrance and to slay my son?” You know that is exactly how we react when we meet with challenges. The devil jumps on your shoulder and lies to you that God has forsaken you in spite of all your giving and sacrifice. He suggests to you that you should hold back after-all you are not the only person in church. Beloved, that is the voice of the enemy and you must refuse to hold back. In verse 19, the Prophet of God said to the widow: “give me thy son”. And he took the boy from her, carried him into a loft where he abode and laid him upon his own bed and prayed. The scripture says that God heard the voice of Elijah and the soul of the child came to him again and he revived. He took the child and handed him over to his mother: and Elijah said, “see thy son liveth.” Beloved, that woman’s sacrifice and giving spoke for her. Imagine what would have happened if she had held back during that recession? Child of God, if that widow woman’s seed spoke for her, your seed, sacrifice and commitment will also speak for you.

I prophesy that your seed will speak for you in every area of your life. You will not lack. You will not go away empty handed. You will not be stranded. For every sacrifice you have made and are still making, my God will fill your mouth with testimonies and show you a token for good. I bless you.

A Net Breaking Miracle

Proverbs_10-22: The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it

Proverbs_10-22: The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it

“And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.”

1 Kings 17:16 (KJV)

As we climax the age, people are going to think and care more about themselves much more than they think about God and the things of the Kingdom. I come to challenge you today not to hold back from God. Don’t cut back on your service to God. Refuse to cut back on your giving even in difficult times because it is when things are difficult that you really need God to come through for you.

We are told in 1 Kings 17 that the widow of Zarephath was about to hold back because of the recession in the land, but somehow she had the common sense to obey the prompting of God’s servant. She had planned to cook what she had left, eat with her son and die. You see, keeping what she had was the natural thing to do, but thank God she didn’t, because by the word of the prophet that agenda of death was terminated.

Also in Luke 5 we are told that Simon Peter and his team of fishermen were also in a sort of recession when Jesus came to ask for the use of their boat. They were washing their nets after they had toiled all night and caught nothing. That was certainly not a good time for them to lend out their boat. They were tired and frustrated, and yet Jesus placed a demand on them. The natural thing to do, would have been to tell Jesus to go elsewhere but they did not. Peter allowed Jesus use his boat to preach. At the end of the preaching, Jesus asked him to launch out into the deep and let down his nets for a draught. He came up with a net breaking miracle.

Beloved, there is no way you give to God and go away empty handed. In fact there is nothing you invest in the Kingdom that goes unrewarded. It is a surety that when you give of your time and resources to the Kingdom, God will reward you. It is time to look away from your circumstances, frustrations and release for the Kingdom. Rather than eat her last meal with her son, the widow of Zarephath sowed her last food. Rather than die as she thought, she had enough to eat and spare all through the famine. I prophesy that your seed will speak for you in every area of your life. You will not lack. You will not go away empty handed.

God Who Brought You This Far Is More Than Able To Take You Through To The End And Even Beyond

James_1-12-1: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him

James_1-12-1: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him

“And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.”

Romans 4:21 (KJV)

Your business, job or finances may not be at the level that you desire right now, but do you realize that you are also not where you used to be? If God brought you to where you are now, then know it that He is obligated to take you to the next level of your life, but you have to judge Him faithful. You must believe that His promises over your life will come to pass. When He made that promise to you, it was not to pull punches. He meant what He said. Your responsibility therefore is to believe the promise. Receive it and thank Him for the fulfillment.

I encourage you to stand firm in faith and in the place of prayers. Do not stop until you see the manifestation of everything you have believed God for. Oftentimes God will allow all flesh to be silent, so that no one will take His glory. So stop looking at impossibilities. Do not let the enemy garage you with fear because fear is a torment and one of devil’s age-long tricks of robbing people of their blessings. He who brought you this far is more than able to take you through to the end and even beyond. Be rest assured that God who made promises to you will remember you and do for you as He has said. Look at the life of Abraham. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway. He decided to live, not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do. Child of God it is not about you but about God who has spoken. Abraham didn’t focus on his age and say, “It’s hopeless nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He also didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously sceptical questions. Rather he plunged into the promise and came up strong. Being sure that God would make good what he had said.

God will continually watch over His word in your life to perform it. Indeed your story will change. Your gates shall be open continually. They shall not be shut day and night. God will cause you to laugh and show you a token of His goodness. I will hear your testimony, Amen!

2-Timothy_2-3: Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ

2-Timothy_2-3: Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ

“But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul”.

Hebrews 10:39 (KJV)

We are not of them that look back unto perdition. Paul says we are of them that believe to the saving of the soul. We don’t look back. In Luke 9:62, the scripture says “. . . No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God”.

You are not fit for the kingdom of God if you begin to look back. There are terrors and problems out there but don’t look back. There are challenges out there to overwhelm you but don’t look back. It is time to move forward. Paul says we have not yet attained nor made perfect but this one thing we do, forgetting the things that are behind, we reach forth for the things that are before we press for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:12-14). These are days of Gods power. Don’t go back, move forward.

Jesus, for the joy that was set before him, endured the pains of the cross (Hebrews 12:2). He endured the cross and the opposition of sinners. It was painful but he endured it because of the joy that was set ahead of him. There is joy ahead of every cross road. All you need do is to keep going. The joy shall be made manifest. Weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning (Psalms 30:5).

We have a cloud of witnesses that are waiting for us at the banisters of heaven. No wonder in his departure commission, He said “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Keep on moving forward. Don’t stop! No matter where you are, no matter the challenge facing you, don’t look back. I declare unto you today that you will not be defeated neither will you be overwhelmed. Your dreams and expectations shall materialise. You will realise your goal and arrive at your destiny. You will not go under in Jesus Christ name, Amen!

Putting God First!

Psalms_16-11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalms_16-11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

“Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.”

Genesis 12:1, NIV

God promised to bless Abraham, but Abraham would not receive all God had for him unless he claimed it by leaving everything – his familiar surroundings, his comfortable lifestyle, his old friends, his values, his job, his home, and even his family – and set out on a life of faith. God told him, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you” (Genesis. 12:1). Abraham did not know where God would lead, just that he was to follow. God’s command was clear. Abraham was to put God first in his life if he wanted to receive God’s blessing.

If Abraham obeyed God by putting Him first and by following His lead for the rest of his life, things would be dramatically different. He must have known that God was not just adding a weekend hobby or an additional commitment to an already busy life. God was describing a radical change!

May God Bless Nigeria, America And Israel And Take Care Of Us; May God Make His Face Shine Upon Us, And Be Gracious To Us; May The Lord Lift Up His Countenance Upon Us, And Give Us Peace, In Jesus Christ Name, We Pray! Amen!

May The Grace The Lord Jesus Christ, And The Love Of God, And The Fellowship Of The Holy Spirit Be With You All. Amen!

Friends Come And Friends Go, But A True Friend Sticks By You Like Family

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

“… that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you …John 17:21a, (NIV)

Have you ever wondered why we need each other? Why we crave relationships yet find it hard to build the kind we long for?

My craving for closer friendships surfaced as I sat across the table listening to the sounds of laughter and admiring the bond between two women I’d met at a lunch. What they had was uncommon.

The way they loved each other, how well they knew each other and how much they enjoyed each other reminded me of a Hallmark commercial. But I wasn’t watching television. This was real life.

And when I asked how long they’d known each other, they replied, “More than 60 years.”

More than 60 years? Now I was more interested in listening than eating lunch. So I put down my fork and picked up a pen like a journalist and tried to think of as many questions as I could. How had they met? What had they done to build a lifelong friendship? What moments and memories filled all those years and kept their hearts so closely knit together? What’s their secret?

Here’s what I discovered:

They were intentional about making their friendship last because it mattered to them.

They became friends in grade school, but their friendship grew and continued long after they both married their high school sweethearts, who played football together.

Things had to be planned and time together had to be priority.

Their families vacationed together for years. And when they were young and had little money, they’d all get together for a meal while the kids played in the yard. But as their kids got older it became more challenging, so they’d get together and play cards once a week — a tradition that was still going strong.

They determined early on they would be there for each other no matter what.

These two lifelong friends were now widowed and counted on each other for companionship and laughter, weekly shopping adventures and everything in between. And they had an understanding between them. If one of them starts feeling down she’ll call the other and say, “Hey, I need to get out of the house.” And then they go do something together.

I thought about how different our generation is, how busy we are. How much more we rely on screen time more than face-to-face time. And a twinge of sadness came over me. Would there be anyone in my life I would have known for 40 or 50 years, much less 60 years, when I’m 70 or 80 years old?

Besides my nuclear family, which friend will be able to finish my sentences? Who will know me better than I know myself?

From the beginning of time, God created us to be in relationship — with Him and each other.

Designed in His image, our need for connection comes from God, who has always been in community: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ final prayer for His friends in today’s key verse challenges me. In it, He prays they will know the Father the way He does, and that the world would know His love because of their love for one another. And in Jesus’ prayer we find His heart’s desire for us to be closely connected with each other:

“… that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you” (John 17:21a).

How can we do this better? Maybe we can be creative and get together for lunch during a busy workday, or meet to plan menus for our families each week, do laundry at one of our houses, or take turns cleaning out each other’s closets or running errands together.

That was their secret. They wanted to be together and so they made sure they were.

Dear Lord, the longer I live, the harder it seems to build close friendships. With family and work, and all I have on my plate, intimate friendships drop to the bottom of my priorities. And yet I know deep friendships are part of what You want for me. Show me how to get creative, find a new starting point and be intentional by reaching out to a friend this week. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TRUTH FOR TODAY:

Proverbs 18:24, “Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family.” (MSG)

All Things Work Together For Good To Those Who Love God, To Those Who Are Called According To His Purpose

Romans_8-28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose

Romans_8-28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose

One of the most encouraging verses in the entire Bible is found in Paul’s letter to the Christians living in extreme persecution in the city of ancient Rome. Paul says it like this:

    Romans 8:28

    And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

This passage brought me great hope for the first time when I was just a teenager and was experiencing some extremely difficult hardships at the time. And now that I am older, I can say this passage means even more to me now than it did as a teenager. At this stage of my life, it is much more than hope. It is experience.

I’d like to share with you ten amazing ways I’ve found that God works things together for good in our lives, even when we wouldn’t have expected it.

  1. God Provides

One of the most amazing things I have discovered over the years is that God truly provides even in the midst of extraordinarily difficult circumstances. And He generally does so in ways that I never would have expected. Many times He has taken me through a path of loss only to bring me into pasture of abundance. God gives, and He takes away. But I have always found that He ends up giving me more than He has taken. And most of the time, He would not have been able to bless me if He had not first taken away those things I thought I needed at the time.

  1. God Changes Hearts

God actually has the super-amazing ability to change hearts. At times he has changed my heart to conform with His perfect plan. At other times I have seen him change the hearts of others in order to accomplish His will in my life. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord. Like the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes” (Proverbs 21:1, NKJV).

  1. God Protects

Even as God protected the Children of Israel in the midst of the plagues in Egypt, I have seen God protect my family and other Christians who have been in the midst of extreme hardship. There have been times in my life in which I have felt like I was experiencing a set back. But after allowing time to sort things out, I was able to see that God was actually taking me out of the way of a greater harm that could have befallen me. He was truly protecting me.

  1. God Empowers

Another profound thing I’ve seen over the years is that God has the ability to empower me through challenging events in a way that I never could have experienced otherwise. God will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6), and He tends to give us the greatest amount of his divine power when life is in those darkest hours.

  1. God Befuddles the Enemy

When you feel that someone is tormenting you, and they just seem to be “getting away with it,” you can dismiss that notion from your mind. Even when you cannot see what God is doing, you can rest assured that He is at work—even in the hearts and minds of your enemies. Justice reigns, and He has the ability to confound the works of the wicked.

  1. God Strengthens

A famous theologian once made the statement, “Whatever doesn’t kill us will make us stronger.” OK, that was not actually theologian. It was Arnold Schwarzenegger! But God clearly uses adversity to make us stronger. The key is to run TO God and not AWAY from Him in times of trial.

God has used trials to strengthen me over the past years to the point that I can now withstand hardships that would have crushed me when I was a young man. I am thankful for His spiritual strength which He has imparted to me through those trials.

  1. God Builds Your Character

Nothing purifies our character and motives quite like the fiery furnace of trials and tribulations. And it is important for you to know that we all NEED that type of refining. God uses pain to turn us into clean, pure vessels for His use.

  1. God Heals

Just as God allowed Lazarus to die so that He could demonstrate His power over death by raising him back to life (John 11), at times God allows us physical maladies so that He can heal us for His glory. He is the Great Physician and has the ability to heal when that is what is best in your particular situation. And I have seen His healing in ways that have convinced me that He is truly in control.

  1. God Develops Your Wisdom

I don’t have an exact measuring tool here, but I would estimate that 90% of the wisdom I have gained over the years have come during hardship—and not when times were easy. When we are dialed in to God, He can use pain and difficult times to help us to learn about life in ways that we never could have experienced in times of bliss.

  1. God Gives Purpose and Direction

God often gives us direction and purpose by pointing us on a certain path in the midst of hardship. I know many counselors who were called to counseling after they had experienced seasons of deep pain. I know of youth/children’s ministry workers who were called to ministry after they went through difficult times in their own youth. God can pull you through the storm and into a bright new day of ministry like you’ve never experienced thus far in your life.

God is good, and He can work all of the events of your life into a great masterpiece—if you let Him.

Your Destiny Is Often Determined By Those Closest To You. Choose Wisely! You Are Whom You Choose To HANG OUT WITH The Most

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

When most people think of how to choose their friends they have more of a worldly, casual concept rather than a biblical one. In John 15:15 Jesus told his disciples He called them friends and not servants. Since the Kingdom of God is based upon relationship and not ministry, it is important we know how to choose our friends wisely.

Many churches and even Christians attempt to engender friendships merely to have nice fellowship together. However, true kingdom fellowship should be with the ultimate goal of getting closer to someone to advance kingdom purposes. Most folks are too quick to call someone a friend and/or choose friends just because they have a few things in common. Choosing friends should be a lot more important than just picking as a friend someone you merely work with or enjoy watching a football game with. Merely liking someone should not be the only criteria.

There are many people I would like to consistently hang out with. But when it comes to the kingdom there is more to it than that. I have to ask myself if I am called to build with someone before I make a long-term commitment to him or her. The reason is obvious: a person’s destiny is often determined by those closest to them in regards to quality time spent, mutual goals and common purpose. You are whom you choose to “hang with” the most.

The following are some of the criteria Jesus had before He chose who would be His friends:

  1. He prayed about it

In Luke 6:12-13 Jesus prayed all night before He chose the twelve closest people to Him. This shows His choice of a friend was not haphazard; neither should ours be.

  1. His friends lived lives of obedience to God

In John 15:14 Jesus said “I call you friends if you do what I command you.” It would be foolish for a believer to make their closest friends and confidantes people who live purposeless lives before the Lord. This is not to say that we cannot have friends who do not follow Christ. Jesus at times spent time with sinners (Luke 7:34). However, He did not hang out with them merely to have a good time but to win them to His Father so they would eventually live a life of obedience. Also, these “sinners” were not the ones He invested the most time with unless they became His disciples. Paul encouraged Timothy to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22).

Consequently, we should not be close friends with someone unless they are serious about pursuing the things of God.

  1. Jesus chose His friends to be with Him in order to send them out

Mark 3:14 teaches that the primary expectation Jesus had at first with those He chose as friends was to spend time together. They had to learn to “do life” together, not just Bible studies and attend synagogue. However, the ultimate result of their proximity to Him was to be sent out to preach. After all, how could they proclaim a Jesus they did not know and how could they know Him unless they spent quality time with Him? No one should be quick to call someone a friend before they have spent much quality time with them and know them personally.

  1. Jesus chose friends He could share His heart with

John 15:15 teaches us that Jesus shared His heart with His friends who understood Him. In Matthew 13:11 Jesus told His friends “To you it has been given to understand the secrets of the kingdom of heaven but to them (non-friends) it has not been given.” If someone cannot understand your heart or believe in your vision it will be difficult for them to be a true kingdom friend.

  1. Jesus proactively chose His friends

John 15:16 teaches us (in the context of His choosing friends) that people did not choose Him but vice versa. Although this passage is also referring to salvation, it also shows that His methodology for choosing friends was proactive (not reactive) based on their calling to build with Him. Consequently, we should determine in our hearts who we should pursue in a friendship. Don’t merely pick those who desire to be close to you; proactively choose people based on a leading of the Lord. Not everyone who wanted to be close to Jesus were given that access; out of the multitudes He only had an inner circle of three, then 12, and then 70.

The others only had access to Him during brief moments of their lives. If you are going to be fruitful in the kingdom you cannot spend a lot of time with every person you meet. For example I do not feel guilty for not answering every Facebook message or email sent to me; if I did I would either suffer burnout, leave important work undone, or lose my primary focus and miss my calling.

  1. Jesus’s friends received His hard sayings

In John 6:66-68 many of His disciples left Him because they could not receive the meat of the word! His true friends were thus separated from those who were merely temporary acquaintances. Your true friends will stand by you even when God gives you a hard saying and/or call to do something that is not understood by many other people.

  1. Jesus’s friends were those who stood by Him during His trials

Luke 22:28-29 shows that His closest friends were those who stuck it out with Him during His earthly trials. God will often allow you to go through a severe personal or ministerial trial to test those around you to demonstrate who your real friends are. You can only build with those who are faithful to you during difficult times and not only when things are going well.

Psalms_118-24: This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it

Psalms_118-24: This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it

This is the day the Lord hath made

He calls the hours His own;

Let heaven rejoice, let earth be glad

And praise surround the throne

Today He rose and left the dead,

And Satan’s empire fell:

Today the saints His triumph spread,

And all His wonders tell.

 Hosanna to the anointed King,

To David’s holy Son!

Help us O Lord! descend and

bring

Salvation Thy throne.

Blest be the Lord, who comes to men

With messages of grace:

Who comes in God His Father’s

name

To save our sinful race

 Hosanna, in the highest strains

The church on earth can raise;

The highest heavens in which

He reigns

Shall give Him nobler praise.

O Day of rest and gladness

Psalms_118-24: This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it

Psalms_118-24: This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it

O Day of rest and gladness,

O day of joy and light,

O balm of care and sadness,

Most beautiful, most bright!

On Thee the high and lowly,

Through ages joined in tune.

Sing, holy, holy, holy,

To the great God Triune.

On Thee, at the creation,

The light first had its birth;

On Thee, for our salvation,

Christ rose from depths of earth;

On Thee, our Lord victorious

The Spirit sent from heaven:

And thus on Thee most glorious

A triple light was given.

Thou art a port protected

From storms that round us rise;

A garden intersected

With streams of paradise;

Thou art a cooling fountain

In life’s dry dreary sand:

From Thee, like Pisgah’s

mountain,

We view our promised land.

Thou art a holy ladder,

Where angels go and come;

Each Sunday finds us gladder,

Nearer to heaven, our home;

A day of sweet reflection,

Thou art a day of love;

A day of resurrection

From earth to things above.

Today on weary nations

The heavenly manna falls;

To holy convocations

The silver trumpet calls,

Where gospel light is glowing

With pure and radiant beams,

And living water flowing

With soul-refreshing streams.

New graces ever gaining

from this our day of rest,

We reach the rest remaining

To spirits of the blest,

To Holy Ghost be praises,

To Father, and to Son:

The Church her voice upraises

To Thee, blest Three in One.
