Sometimes when we are depressed, we feel lifeless. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. We seem to have no energy to do even the most routine functions. If you are depressed by the greatness of your problems, read God’s Word! That’s where you find help. That’s where you find joy. Let the rushing waters of the living Word drown out all other sounds and voices. There is life-giving power in the Word of God!

At the most difficult times in my life – the loss of a baby, the forced removal from a church, the execution of a friend, the robbery of our home – God’s Word has sustained me. There have been times when I have only been capable of reading a few verses at a time, yet the supernatural life-giving power of the Word of God has not only helped me maintain my emotional and mental balance, it has given me strength to go on, even if only one day at a time.

In The Finished Work Of Calvary

Ephesians_2-8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Hebrews_12-28: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

I have said it before and it bears repetition: you must learn to rest in the finished work of Calvary. When Jesus died on the cross, He boldly announced “IT IS FINISHED“, in other words, God has completed the work concerning you in eternity. You were saved by grace, how then do you want to sustain yourself by works? The work of Jesus is total and complete – nothing to add. Your part is to appropriate it to yourself.

Do not think that the blessing and the goodness coming to you is because of the effort you have put in. No it is not. Your salvation is a product of grace and your salvation is not only from sin, it is salvation from everything the devil has to offer – sin, sickness, poverty, etc.

All you need has been paid for in FULL; but you appropriate it by living in agreement to the word. Realise that you are not the sick in search of healing, you are the healed the devil is trying to make sick. You are not the poor looking for money, but you are the rich the devil is trying to make poor.

When you understand your position in Christ, then you will learn the art of resting in His grace. The work has been concluded in eternity, your part is to enforce it in the now. Don’t let the devil hoodwink and deceive you. The symptom is not the sickness, it is a mirage to make you drop your healing. The lack of money is not the challenge, it is a setup by the devil to make you change your confession and embrace lack. When you understand the trick of the devil, you can put him where he belongs and enforce your right.

God’s love for us is the ultimate

1-John_4-7:Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love … always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is a familiar word in our culture, and to most of us love is a powerful emotion that transcends all others. But in the Biblical sense, love is not merely a warm and fuzzy human emotion, but a choice of the will. This kind of love is a selfless love that always seeks the highest and best for another. It is an unconditional love that gives freely without asking anything in return.

God’s love for us is the ultimate example of pure, selfless love-never-ending and all-encompassing. God’s love for us is so great that He chose to send His son Jesus to die on the cross of Calvary to redeem us! And Jesus chose to bear our sins and die on the cross to redeem us and restore us to God’s favour. Oh, that we could possibly emulate the love that God has for us!

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

As Christ has shown us, biblical love is not what we feel but what we do.

Every name has meaning. What’s Your Name?

2-Timothy_2-19: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity

“So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, ‘Can this be Naomi?’

‘Don’t call me Naomi,’ she told them. ‘Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”

Ruth 1:19-21

Every name has meaning, it has purpose. Naomi was returning to Bethlehem, having spent time in Moab. Because of what she had experienced, Naomi blamed God for how her life had turned out. Rather than facing the truth of her decisions, she chose to blame God, and then decided to change her name. She wanted to label herself something that God never intended her to be.

Could it be that we’ve done the same thing? Could it be that we carry around an identity that is different from God created us to be?

Don’t label yourself something that you aren’t meant to be. Don’t be like Naomi and try to change your identity. Instead, embrace who God has created you to be. If you’ve been ‘living in Moab,’ head back to Bethlehem.

PRAYER

Ask God to lead you away from whatever environment that might cause you to mislabel and misrepresent who you really are. Ask Him to lead you to where He would have you be.

Pray that God will bring the right people into your life who will encourage you to trust Him and identify who you are in Him.

ACTION

Recheck your schedule for this week. Highlight the things that are pointing you to God and delete those which might be drawing your attention away from Him.

Satan tries to get you to think on those things that feed your fleshly desires. God says, “No, this is what I want you to do. I want you to think about things that are true, honest and just. I want you to think about things that are pure and lovely and of good report. I want you to think on the Word of God.”

If you are having a problem winning the war within, if your flesh is dominating you, then your problem is starting in your mind. You need to learn how to renew your mind. You need to learn how to think thoughts according to the Word of God. The Word of God meets every one of the criteria in this verse. It is always right to think on the Word of God.

God’s timing

Isaiah_40-31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

It’s always best to follow God’s timing. But if we run ahead of God or lag behind Him, that decision will often be costly.
Self-sufficiency moves us outside of the Lord’s will. The right thing done at the wrong time may leave us vulnerable to Satan’s schemes and can delay or even derail blessings God has planned for us. Acting on our own timetable can also bring confusion to us and others, as situations are likely to turn out differently from how we envisioned them. Then we may be facing not only unanticipated results but also problems.
By refusing to wait on God, we often cause ourselves unnecessary grief. For example, if we use credit cards to purchase unneeded clothes, electronic devices, and other indulgences, debt could pile up beyond our ability to pay. Then our credit rating would plummet, with little financial relief in sight. But when we manage money in accordance with biblical principles, our lifestyle will be less lavish, but we’ll have freedom and peace of mind.
And here’s another example: Quitting a job before the Lord has released us from it can short-circuit what He planned to teach us through it. We might subsequently discover that, had we held on a while longer, God might have changed either our circumstances or our attitude about the situation.
Certain character qualities are necessary if we are to develop a lifestyle of waiting on the Lord. We need patience to endure our present situation, steadfastness to carry out current responsibilities, and courage to trust the Lord as we await His solution in the midst of our discomfort. How good are you at waiting?

Dear Lord, please help me to realize that although this life is messy, it is good

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God, Prayer Works, God Answers Prayers

“All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” – 2 Corinthians 4:15

There will be always something that isn’t the way it should be. Until Christ returns, this life and in-between that we live in, there will always be something we want that somebody else has. There will always be a thirst, an insufficiency, and a lack unless you get to a place where you can walk by faith and be at peace that sometimes a beautiful picture can have tiles missing from it. You have to look at your own life and realized while it isn’t perfect, it’s great. When you say that, all of heaven just spills over into your life. Saying thank you isn’t easy: it requires courage as you face the hardship of life. You have to say I am still glad and I trust God. And you can.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, please help me to realize that although this life is messy, it is good.
