Spirit Of Peace
“Gideon built an altar . . . and named it The LORD Is Peace.” Judges 6:24
“Y-y-you b-b-better get somebody else,” we stammer. But then God reminds us that He knows we can’t, but He can, and to prove it He gives a wonderful gift. He brings a spirit of peace. A peace before the storm. A peace beyond logic . . . God gave it to David after He showed him Goliath; He gave it to Saul after he showed him the gospel; He gave it to Jesus after He showed Him the cross.
May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men
Speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men
-Titus 3:2
Years ago when I was in college, I was a young man running as hard as I could away from God. I was angry – angry at life, angry from disappointments, and working very
hard to feed that empty feeling in my gut with whatever the world had to offer.
During that time, one conversation in particular affected me significantly. I’ll
never forget sitting across the table from a fellow student I’ll call Mike. The
words that poured out of my mouth that day certainly reflected my state of mind.
“I don’t get it,” I said, “the hypocrisy of it all. All these people claim to be
Christians, yet they treat each other worse than most atheists I know.” Mike just
sat there and sipped his coffee as I continued my rant about the many things wrong
with the church, and those who walked through church doors each week. After I had
cooled down just a bit, I finally said to Mike, “Go ahead and tell me I’m wrong.”
Mike just smiled and said, “No, you’re not wrong. Christians can be no better or
worse than anybody else can. They’ve just been forgiven. Whether someone chooses
to let Christ change his or her life is a different question. Some don’t. They tuck
their fire insurance policy in their back pocket and go on with life in whatever
way they please. Then there are the ones who truly take up their crosses and follow
Jesus. They are the lights of the world that Jesus talked about. They stand out.
You see the evidence of that change all over their lives. The fruits of the Spirit
– love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control – permeate
their lives. It doesn’t mean they’re perfect; they just get up each morning hoping
and trying to do what Jesus would have them do, and love the way that Jesus would
have them love.”
Then he looked me right in the eye and said, “So, the question is, what kind of
Christian do you want to be? Just forgiven – OR – forgiven AND changed?”
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, change me. You said to those who believe in You to take up their crosses
and follow You. Lord Jesus, I’m Yours. Wherever you lead, I will follow. Let all
see the evidence of change in my life because of You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Do you feel forgiven by God? Since asking Jesus to be the Lord of your life, how
have you increased in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control?
May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

At peace with God

Acts 12:6
“And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.”
NKJV
How often do you allow the troubles of life to steal your peace? Do you replay events over and over in your mind wishing you had done something differently, and sometimes even allow bad events to set the tone for the rest of your day? I am reminded of a story about a man who while on his way to work had a flat tire. When he finally got to work, his secretary asked him how he was doing. Through clenched teeth he said, “Terrible! I had a flat tire.” He walked into his office, slammed the door, threw the chair back from his desk, and picked up a phone to speak harshly to an employee. At lunch, the waiter at the restaurant asked him how he was doing and he responded, “Terrible! I had a flat tire this morning!” Later that evening when he got home his wife asked him how his day went and he said, “It was terrible! I had a flat tire this morning!” That one event shaped his entire day and not only that, his bad attitude affected everyone he came across.
In Acts chapter 12, we see James had been killed by Herod and Peter was imprisoned. Although Peter was probably about to be executed, he was sleeping! Now as far as ‘bad days’ go, I’d rank his pretty high on the list, yet Peter is comfortable and peaceful enough to sleep. Peter was at peace in the Lord as we should be. No matter what the circumstance.
Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NKJV
No matter what trial or tribulation you are facing, know that there will be a day when you will be free from it. It may not be until you are with the Lord in Heaven, but you will be free from it. Be at peace, Christian! You have an awesome promise to look forward to…
Rev 21:3-4 “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” NKJV
Life Lesson: Through Jesus, you may have peace.
Dear Father,
Thank You for sending Your only Son, Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. Thank You for the promise that one day, You will wipe the tears from my eyes and there will be no more death, sorrow or crying. Thank You that I can have peace through Jesus, no matter what trial or difficulties I am experiencing. Please forgive me for the times when I have surrendered my peace to a situation or problem and help me to live for You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

God is your everlasting peace
God is your everlasting peace
There was a lady who lived out in the country and never had electricity. Finally, her family made arrangements so a line could be run out to her house. However, after six months, she had only used one unit. Company officials decided to drive out to her house to make sure nothing was wrong. When everything checked out fine, they asked her if she was enjoying having electricity. “Oh my, yes,” she replied.
Then one of the representatives said, “Well, tell us how you are using it.” The old woman paused for a moment, and then, with a gleam in her eyes, she explained. Each evening, as the sun was setting, she turned the lights on long enough to light her kerosene lamps—and then turned them off! She was still living a kerosene existence when she could have been enjoying the comforts of having electricity.
God has given us tremendous power through the presence of His Spirit. Yet many times, we fail to use it. Instead, we settle for much less by relying solely on our human ability. There are certain things God never meant for us to handle on our own. We may be fine when it comes to choosing which shirt to wear in the morning, but when life becomes stormy and the winds begin to blow hard against us, we need an omnipotent Saviour.
In Acts 12, we learn that Peter was arrested and that no amount of human effort could free him. However, the supernatural power of God did. The Bible tells us that the church was praying fervently. This means they were praying without ceasing, knowing that God had the power they lacked to release the one they loved.
What are you wrestling with today? Have you rolled it over onto the Lord through prayer, or have you lit a room full of kerosene lamps? Stop struggling on your own and turn on God’s power through prayer and faith. Allow Him to be your strength and your everlasting peace.
God wants to use the problems we face to demonstrate His awesome power and ability. Are you willing to allow Him to do this?
May God Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all their enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

The Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding
Peace in crisis
Ted, one of the elders in our church, used to be a police officer. One day after responding to a report of violence, he said the situation turned life-threatening. A man had stabbed someone and then menacingly turned the blade towards Ted. A fellow officer had taken position and fired his weapon at the assailant as he attacked Ted. The criminal was subdued, but Ted was shot in the crossfire. As he was driven by ambulance to the hospital, he felt deep waves of peace flowing over his soul from the Holy Spirit. Ted felt so tranquil that he was able to offer words of comfort to the law enforcement officer who was emotionally distraught over the crisis.
The Lord Jesus Christ promised us peace in crisis. Just hours before His own crucifixion, Christ comforted His disciples with these words: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
What is your worst fear? If you should have to face it, Christ will be there with you. Trusting Him through prayer makes available “The Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,” and it “will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”
The secret of peace is to give every anxious care to God in prayers!
May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!
