The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength.

James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

When we are facing challenges and problems, it is difficult to have joy; but James tells us that this is the key to overcoming those obstacles that are in your life. As a matter of fact the Bible says that the joy of the lord is your strength. So without joy you will be without strength and you will not be able to face and overcome the trials. You can only have joy when you have Faith, knowing that God will not leave you in the lurch and that He will always help you to get through whatever you are facing.

We are precious in God’s Sight

We are Precious in God‘s Sight

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.

Isaiah 43:2, NIV

Have your thoughts been similar to these?

God, where have You been?

Why did You let this happen?

I just don’t understand.

Are you overlooking the fact that Jesus has drawn near to you?

Are you blinded to His presence by your own tears?

Are you deafened to His gentle voice by your own accusations?

While God doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we ask Him to, He does promise in His Word that He will be present with us in the midst of our suffering and pain. He said, “Fear not. . . . When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. . . . For I am the Lord, your God . . . your Saviour; . . . you are precious and honoured in my sight, and . . . I love you” (Isa. 43:1-4, NIV).

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

Thank You Jesus

Thank You Jesus

All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is
delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou
therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Luke 4:6, 7

Jesus didn’t challenge satan’s claim to earthly authority when the
tempter took Him to a high place and showed Him all of the kingdoms of
the earth in a moment of time. He didn’t rebuke satan and call him a
liar on this specific occasion, because the devil really did have a
claim to those kingdoms-Adam gave his planet-ruling authority to satan
through his sin.

Sin instantly separated Adam and Eve from their unbroken fellowship
with God, and mankind took on the nature of death. Satan thought
everybody in the planet was his servant after that day. The nature of
death is in the father, and it passes through the bloodstream to the
child.

What Jesus dealt with was the sinful motive behind the tempter’s claims. Satan really did possess those earthly powers at that time, but
he had no authority to ask anyone to worship him. Jesus instantly
replied with the Word: “Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve”
(Luke 4:8).

Prayer for Today

Father,
Thank you for discernment and for power to overcome all temptations
that satan may place in my way. Thank you for your example of knowing
and doing the Word to live in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God of order

God of Order

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust . . .

Psalm 18:2

The trouble with our modern thinking is that we have a conception that God is a haphazard God with no set rules of life and salvation. Ask the astronomer if God is a haphazard God. He will tell you that every star moves with precision in its celestial path. Ask the scientist if God is a haphazard God. He will tell you that His formulas and equations are fixed, and that to ignore the laws of science would be a fool’s folly. If the laws in the material realm are so fixed and exact, is it reasonable that God could afford to be haphazard in the spiritual realm, where eternal destinies of souls are at stake? Just as God has equations and rules in the material realm, God has equations and rules in the spiritual.

Prayer for the day

Thank You, God, for Your absolute divine order. Amid confusion, it brings me hope and perfect peace.

Every good thing in your life is a gift from God

Every good thing in your life is a gift from God.

James 1:16,17 “Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

Do not believe the lie of the devil. God is a good God and He does not want to harm you. He may allow certain things to come into your life that are uncomfortable and challenging but He will always give you the strength to overcome every problem. You need to be firm in the knowledge that God cares for you and that every good thing in your life is a gift from Him.

We are not saved by our good works, but saved in order to do good works

We are not saved by our  good works, but saved in order to do good works

Acts 16:14-15

“Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.”
NKJV

As we see in Acts 16, Lydia was not saved by good works, but saved in order to do good works.

Once saved, Lydia began to fellowship with other Christians. You see, it is the responsibility of every Christian to be in fellowship with other Christians. Fellowship helps you in your faith, and it will help other believers in their faith.

The author of Hebrews says, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV.

The word used for ‘stir up’ also means to ‘provoke’. It is like going to the dentist…stay with me here. When you go for a check-up, the dentist uses a sharp tool to poke around at your teeth, right? It is not until he pokes the one tooth that makes you jump that you discover you’ve got a cavity. Once you know that you have a problem with your tooth, you can take steps to fix it. It’s not pleasant, but it’s necessary as it keeps a small problem from turning into a big problem.

Interaction with other believers may not always be comfortable. Someone may see our sore spots – areas where we are weak or where we fail to glorify God. We may even get ‘poked’ in those spots. Sometimes we are not aware of the sore spot and the ‘poking’ brings to our attention the need to repent and change. Other times we are covering up the sore spot, and it takes encouragement from a brother or sister for us to make a change. Now, I’m not saying that you should nitpick all your friends until you find something wrong that you can point out to them – not at all! Rather, it’s a natural part of fellowship with other believers. Solomon put it this way:

Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend.” NLT

When you grind two pieces of iron together, you may get sparks, but it’s not just one piece of iron that is sharpened; both pieces benefit from the process. Don’t ignore this vital part of your Christian walk! I’m probably poking someone in a sore spot right now (poke!).

Life Lesson: We should fellowship or hang out with people in the church.

Dear Father,
Thank You for loving me. Thank You that I am not alone in this Christian walk. Please forgive me for the times when I have neglected fellowship. Please give me a desire to fellowship with my family in Christ. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Praying in tongues refreshes and renews us

Praying in tongues refreshes and renews us

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16)

You can be renewed every day by the Word of God and through praying in tongues. This spiritual renewal and refreshing is what keeps you afloat with joy, even in the midst of challenging situations. Christianity is living in God’s rest (Hebrew 4:10).

Praying in other tongues refreshes your spirit, your soul and your body; never forget that. Thus the next time you feel as though you’re almost overwhelmed or wearied with the hustle and bustle of the day’s activities, take some time to refresh yourself by praying in tongues.

There’s no dryness at all in the lives of those who pray in other tongues, for out of their innermost being flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). No wonder David, talking about this spiritual renewal and refreshing by the Holy Spirit, declared: “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me….who satisfies thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s”. (Psalm 103:1-5).

The eagle is a bird which is renowned for its continuous state of fresh plumage. In the same way, praying in tongues helps keep you continually refreshed vitalized, strengthened and renewed like the eagle.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the refreshing and day-to-day renewal that I experience as I speak in other tongues. Like the eagle, I’m transformed and invigorated as I spend quality time speaking in other tongues today, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Amen!

God still speaks

God still speaks

……but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my Word. Isaiah 66:2b

One clear fact from the scriptures is that God speaks. Psalm 62:11 say: “God has spoken; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

There is power in every Word of God. It is therefore very important that you hear what God is saying to the church (Revelation 2:7). When the Lord speaks, it is sometimes quiet especially when He speaks through the still small voice. At such times, if you are not quiet and sensitive, you may miss what He is trying to say. This is why Exodus 15:26 says you must diligently hearken to all He has to say. It is common for people to listen to the sweet and interesting passages of the Bible but skip the aspects that are hard to receive. A wise fellow will listen to all and observe everything.

Every year, the Lord gives us prophecies and warnings. Many people ignore the warnings until they see what prayer could have prevented, happening in their midst. When the Lord speaks of some unpleasant occurrences, it is to inform us before hand so that we are not caught unawares. If He says war is coming, it is either you run or get ready. I would prefer the fellow who would criticise and warn me so that I do not get into trouble to the fellow who will assure me all is well, but I get into an unknown trap. Those who rebuke you or show you those your short comings are your true friends. The one who says there is no one like you will be there to repeat that when you have died out of carelessness. It is truth that sets free. Until you access the truth, you will remain in bondage. What do you want to hear? Do you crave for patronising messages or do you want to hear the truth?

The type of message people want to hear influences where they worship. Are you where you are because of what you want to hear or because of what God wants you to hear?

There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, and His Name is Jesus Christ.

There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, and His Name is Jesus.

Proverbs 18:24b

In this world, we all have friends – people we relate with, talk with, share with, pray and play with, and whose company we enjoy. But even the best of friends may sometimes let you down or disappoint you in your hour of need; not because they want to, but because they may be unavailable, or not have the right words to say to you at the time. Then of course, it’s possible for them to get tired of your “Issues” and eventually give up on you, because they feel you aren’t going to change.

But there’s a friend that’ll never let you down. He’ll never disappoint, fail, or give up on you! He’s never tired of you, His Name is Jesus Christ! Those who know Jesus as a friend don’t seek the help or favour of men! What you need is to have a private, personal relationship with Him. And you don’t need to go looking for Him, for He lives in you! You can talk with Him, and He will talk to you. He is inside you, yet He is with you. He can talk to you inside you, and also talk to you from the outside! He’s the dearest friend you could ever have, and He has the wisdom and ability to see you through the most difficult situations.

The Bible says “…He (Jesus Christ) is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.”  (Hebrew 7:25). He’ll go any length to help you. He already proved it through His death for you on the cross. He’ll never give up on you or condemn you! Let Him be your closet friend; don’t be ashamed to identify yourself with Him for He loves you exceedingly. He’ll never be ashamed of you and He will ALWAYS be there for you, even to the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). Start each day by saying “I love you today, Lord Jesus.” Develop that relationship with Him through His Word and the Holy Ghost! Amen!

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, You’re the dearest friend I could ever know. No one can love me, believe in me and care for me the way You do! You’re my best friend and the object of my deepest affection. I love You with all of my heart, and desire to know and love You more and more each day. Thank You for being my Lord, Master, and Friend! Amen!

Trust in the Lord and fear no man, for God is your Helper

Proverbs 29:25 says: “The fear of man brings a snare: but whoso puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe.” Sometimes we fear what men can do to us. We should never fear this way because God is greater than man. Man does not hold your eternity. Man does not even hold your tomorrow. Man does not hold your well-being; only God does. So don’t fear men anymore because God is your helper.

Don’t fear men!
