Psalm 96. God the Supreme King. A Song Of Praise To God Coming In Judgment

1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; show forth his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. 6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. 12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Psalm 95. A Song Of Praise. A Call To Worship And Obedience

1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. 10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Psalm 91. Safety Of Abiding In The Presence Of God. God Our Protector.

Psalm 91. Safety Of Abiding In The Presence Of God. God Our Protector

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Psalm 82. God The Supreme Ruler. A Plea For Justice

A Psalm of Asaph

1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. 2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Children Series Part 8[8+]

It is never too late to talk about sexual abuse, my dear. Just like you read about Eve’s experience, I want to assure you that you will feel a lot better when you TELL!

  • It is not your fault the abuse took place.
  • Stay calm.
  • You are not responsible for what happened.
  • It is the fault of the abuser, he or she needs help.
  • Telling reveals the abuser.
  • Tell a trusted adult about the abuse.
  • When you tell, the abuser will get help.
  • He or she will not be able to harm other children again.
  • As soon as you tell a trusted adult, you are safe. The abuser cannot harm you anymore.
  • Some adults may not believe your story; they may even say you made it up.
  • Do not worry, go ahead and tell another adult; keep telling until someone believes you.

You may need to talk to a doctor or counsellor about the abuse.

When you report the abuse, the abuser may get arrested by the police and go to jail. This is a way of punishing abusers for the wrong they have done. The abuser may make you feel guilty, but remember it was not your fault.

Make up your mind now! Say to yourself I WANT TO BE FREE, I WILL TELL, THIS SEXUAL ABUSE MUST STOP NOW!

Then go ahead and TELL!!!!!

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Psalm 73. The Justice Of God. The Tragedy Of The Wicked, And The Blessedness Of Trust In God

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

Psalms 73. The Justice Of God. The Tragedy Of The Wicked, And The Blessedness Of Trust In God

A Psalm of Asaph

1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. 2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. 3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. 5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. 6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. 10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. 11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? 12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. 13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. 14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. 16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. 18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. 19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. 20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. 22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. 23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. 24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Child Sexual Abuse

If you don’t tell!

Children Series Part 7[8+]

Eve’s Story.

I could not control my feelings any more. Something is really happening to me, but I couldn’t lay my hands on it. I became aggressive to my siblings and friends at school. My grades in school dropped to the bottom. My parents wondered why I have changed from their humble and obedient Princess to a disobedient and rebellious girl.

My parents took me to a professional counsellor. I was really ashamed of myself, because I had to tell her what I have been going through in the past months of my life.

First, it was Baba our gateman, who sexually abused me. Then his son continued abusing me. They both threatened to kill my parents and I if anyone knows about the abuse.

I love my parents and I didn’t want them dead, so I kept going through the pain alone. Telling the counsellor brought peace and relief to my soul. The gateman and his son were arrested, and now I am getting back on my feet. I have learnt not to keep bad secret any more.

Keeping bad secrets can be very dangerous. If an adult sexually abuses you and you refuse to inform your parents, teachers or a trusted adult, then you are asking for trouble!

  • The abuse will not stop, rather it will continue.
  • The abuser will keep hurting you and other children.
  • It will affect your grades at school.
  • You will become unhappy and lonely.
  • You could have sleepless nights.
  • You can be infected with sexually transmitted diseases such as Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, and HIV/AIDS
  • You will become aggressive and disobedient.
  • You could lose your appetite and be unable to eat.
  • Relationships with your siblings and friends will be affected.
  • For older girls, you may even get pregnant and stop schooling.

So to avoid all these consequences of not telling, please report any form of abuse to a trusted adult.

Set yourself free from sexual abuse,

TELL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can You Keep A Secret? Child Sexual Abuse!

Can You Keep A Secret? Child Sexual Abuse!

Children Series Part 6[8+]

Emeka’s Story! (13 years Old)

My parents had to travel to Enugu to see grandpa because he was very ill. Aunty Esther our house help took care of my younger brother and I while they were away. One night, I was asleep in my room, when she walked in, sat on my bed and touched my body. I woke up startled. She smiled at me and left my room. I was really scared, I couldn’t sleep that night. Again the next day, she came into my room, she touched my private body part and asked me to keep it a secret. I felt very unhappy and confused. I had a feeling it was wrong and I wanted to tell mum and dad, but I was scared because Aunty Esther threatened to kill me if my parents know about our “Little Secret”. Then I heard about good and bad secrets. I knew it was a bad secret, so I told Mum and Dad.

GOOD SECRETS

“Tomorrow is your mother’s birthday; I want to give her a surprise gift. Please do not tell her”, says daddy.

“Your daddy will be back from US tomorrow, I want to surprise him with a welcome party, please do not tell him when he calls”

These are good secrets as they will not be kept for long. Good secrets make you happy and excited and you will eventually tell someone about it later.

BAD SECRETS

Bad secrets make you unhappy and sad. It can also make you feel nervous. Some bad secrets are:

When an adult touches or fondles your breast and he says, “Please don’t tell anyone about this”.

“If you tell your mum, I will kill you”.

“Or if you tell your mummy, she won’t believe you anyway”. Now, that is a bad secret.

When a teenager plays with any of your private body parts and he or she says “Let this be a secret between us. I will buy you something if you do not tell” That is also a bad secret.

Do not keep bad secrets, it will hurt and haunt you later

If an adult tells you not to tell your parents, or anyone then you really need to tell them.

It is totally wrong for you to obey an adult, older boy or girl that asks you not to tell your parents anything.

Do not keep secrets that make you feel bad inside. It’s okay to break a promise you made to an adult not to tell about sexual abuse.

GO AHEAD – TELL! TELL!! AND TELL AGAIN……………………….!!!!!!!!

Psalm 63. Longing For God. Joy In The Fellowship Of God

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

Psalms 63. Longing for God. Joy in the fellowship of God

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah

1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. 8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. 9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. 10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Ruth’s Story

I really liked my lesson teacher, Uncle Joe because he teaches me very well. He first touched my laps one evening when we were alone in the reading room. I looked at him with surprise. At first I taught it was a mistake. But the act continued and he even brushed my breast with his hands. I then knew this was getting out of hand. I told him to stop it, but he looked at me and asked, “Are you not enjoying it? I remembered being told that my body belongs to me and I have the right to reject any touch that makes me feel uncomfortable. I warned him never to touch me again, but he continued. Then I ran out of the room and told my mum.

Private Body Parts

Some parts of your body are private, meaning they should not be touched without any good reason.

The Boy’s private part is called penis, while Girls have two private body parts namely: Breast and Vagina.

But boys and girls have anus, buttocks and laps.

For girls, you have a right to say “NO!” to anyone who wants to touch your vagina, breasts, anus, laps and buttocks.

For boys, you have a right to say “NO!” to anyone who wants to touch your penis, buttocks, laps and anus.

They are special parts of the body that are covered for privacy, that’s why they are called “Private Body Parts”. You have all the right to say “NO!” to any adult, friend or grown-up who wants to touch any of your private body parts except when a doctor is doing a medical examination on you. But if it hurts, let the doctor know how you feel.

You also have a right to say “NO!” when a grown-up wants to hug, carry or kiss you. If you do not feel comfortable, you can courteously refuse hugging or kissing anyone.

There are two types of touches:

Normal Touches

When someone touches you, you will get a feeling inside e.g. A hug from mummy when you come back from school, or when you do something good. A handshake is also a good touch. Normal touches are not harmful.

Abnormal Touches

This touch makes you feel bad, uncomfortable and scared. A touch is abnormal when a grown-up touches your private parts making you feel funny. You don’t have to keep it a secret when someone gives you an abnormal touch; because your body belongs to you. It is also an abnormal touch if anyone forces or asks you to touch him or her, say “NO!” to whoever gives you a bad touch. Tell the person “I don’t like it!” and the touching must stop immediately.

If the person continues, call for help and get away from him or her. Scream as loud as you can. You will not be punished for shouting. Get help and tell a trusted adult. Never stay alone with that person again.

It is unsafe to play “The Touch Games” with grown-up or anyone at all. These are games played using parts of the body. Tell the adult you don’t like such games.

Your body is precious and belongs to you.

Keep it safe!

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!
