God’s Word: A Promise of Fulfillment and Glory

Today Beautiful Bible Verse:

Then The Lord said to me, “you have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over my word to perform it.

Jeremiah 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

God is watching to see that His Word is fulfilled in your life.

The plans of God for you are so good,

And God will certainly carry out all His good plans for you.

Rejoice, for God is hastening the performance of that which He said concerning you.

The wait is over, you shall now see sudden Glorious Manifestations in your life.

God’s word does not return to Him without a performance.

God’s word does not return to Him void.

And His word has gone forth concerning you.

See what God is also saying:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void,

But it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)

Are there words you have received from God? His words begin from Genesis and ends in Revelation. What is the Lord saying to you?

Rejoice, for there shall surely be glorious manifestations.

Say This Out Loud Many Times: Thank You Heavenly Father for performing Your word in my life through Christ Jesus my Lord and Personal Saviour! Amen.

Thank You Father for the glorious manifestations in my life now and always! Amen.

Prophetic Word for Today:

There shall be no delays. There shall be no disappointments.

Thank You Jesus,

Proclaiming the Good News of Christ Jesus with Love.

Preach Love, Not Sins.

Love: The Motivation For The Salvation Of Mankind.

TO THE BIBLE: John 3:16 TPT “For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.””

“Repent of your sins, or you’ll go to hell,” Claude bellowed every morning on his street, hoping the message would stir a revival. But he always wondered why no one ever listened or came around to ask him about the Lord. One day, while in prayer about this, the Holy Spirit told him, “You aren’t preaching good news as long as you aren’t telling them about the Lord Jesus and how His love led Him to take away man’s sins.”

You know, when preaching the Gospel, some Christians focus primarily on the subject of sin, emphasising the need for people to repent of their sins. The message of repentance was appropriate for the Jews because they were under the Law. They were required to turn away from wrongdoing and turn to God when they sinned. However, non-Jews—the Gentiles—had nothing to turn away from because they were never under the Law, which in itself was their condemnation.

The Bible says, “For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law” (Romans 5:13). But then, the Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). This includes both Jews and Gentiles. If the Gentiles didn’t break the Law because it wasn’t given to them, then where was their sin? In the book of Genesis, we learn that when God created Adam and Eve, they lived in His presence and glory. They were cut off from that glory when Adam sinned against God.

Romans 5:19 ESV says, “For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.” Through one man’s offence, all men fell short of the glory, but now, in Christ, the glory is restored: “…Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Hallelujah! This is why your approach to the Gospel shouldn’t begin with the issue of sin; rather, it should begin with the message of love. That’s the key; that’s how Jesus puts it in our opening scripture.

Love was His motivation. Notice in that verse that He said nothing about sin. That’s the Gospel of Christ. It’s a message of love and a message of life—the life and nature of God—that His death, burial, and resurrection have made possible and available to everyone who believes.

Go Deeper:

John 3:16 AMPC; 2 Corinthians 5:19–21

Pray

Dear Father, thank you for your love that’s expressed, unveiled, and embraced as many all around the world hear and receive the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and the resultant gift of righteousness. Today, they experience your steadfast and everlasting love and the glory of your grace in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Hymn 4, To The Work! To The Work! We Are Servants Of God

Hymn 4, To The Work! To The Work! We Are Servants Of God

1. To the work! to the work! we are servants of God,

Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;

With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,

Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.

Refrain:

Toiling on, toiling on,

Toiling on, toiling on:

Let us hope, let us watch,

And labor till the Master comes.

2. To the work! to the work! let the hungry be fed;

To the fountain of life let the weary be led;

In the cross and its banner our glory shall be,

While we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!” [Refrain]

3. To the work! to the work! there is labor for all;

For the kingdom of darkness and error shall fall;

And the name of Jehovah exalted shall be,

In the loud-swelling chorus, “Salvation is free!” [Refrain]

4. To the work! to the work! in the strength of the Lord,

And a robe and a crown shall our labor reward;

When the home of the faithful our dwelling shall be,

And we shout with the ransomed, “Salvation is free!” [Refrain]

Faith Comes by Hearing (Summary)

Faith Comes by Hearing (Summary)

Preacher: AP. Abiola Tayo-Oyetibo

Training weekend, this involves the Sunday School department, the Bible College and the School of Mission, so today is our grand finale and our topic is ‘Faith Comes by Hearing’; our text, we are going to read Romans 10: 14 – 17.

What is faith? There are so many definitions but of course, the one we have in the Bible is Hebrews 11: 1 & 2.  I gave one definition in my own way; I said faith is ‘it can happen and it will happen’, ‘I can do it and I will do it’.

  • Without faith, we cannot even say we are Christians.
  • The object of faith is the person and the work of Jesus Christ and that is why we are here.
  • Faith is when we worship God even in difficult times.
  • As children of God we are already conquerors; Romans 8: 37.

How does faith not come?

  • Faith does not come by memorizing.

How do we hear?

  • We need to study, 2nd Timothy 2: 15.
  • We need to fellowship according to Hebrews 10: 25.
  • We need to be intentional about our relationship with God.
  • Learn to call on God because He always is there to answer us, Jeremiah 29: 12 – 14a.

The essentials about things the word of God produces.

  • The word of God must be heard.
  • Faith in the matter of salvation, 1st Corinthians 1: 17 & 18.
  • We need to testify about what we have heard based on the word of God, Acts 4: 20.

Some examples of faith that comes by hearing;

  • The story of the man who was crippled from the womb, Acts 14: 7 – 10.
  • The woman with the issue of blood, Mark 5: 27, 28 & 34.
  • The Samaritan woman, John 4: 28 – 30.
  • The demon possessed man who was emptied of demons by the word of Jesus, Mark 5: 18 – 20.

So what are the realities?

  • We cannot force salvation on anyone.
  • It’s not a magic formula.

Thank You Jesus,

GOD’S SOVEREIGN CHOICE

GOD’S SOVEREIGN CHOICE

TEXT: Romans 9:9-17 and Romans 10:1-4

INTRODUCTION: Last week, we concluded the series on Harvest; as part of the Mission’s Explosive Growth Drive for Vision 2032. Today, we shall continue with our study of the book of Romans. Recall that in the last week of April 2024, it was the book of Romans chapters 7 and 8; that we studied. The institution of marriage was used for illustration. Marriage with our Lord Jesus Christ frees us from the bondage of the law and the outcome is the creation of new humanity. Today, we are looking at God’s Sovereign Choice. Our Lord has a choice in every matter and remains the final arbiter. May we always be on the right side of His choice, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

 OUTLINE 1 [Romans chapter 9]:

A.      Apostle Paul’s Concern for Israel/Jews. Paul was both Jewish and Roman. He served as a Pharisee prior to his conversion, therefore understood Jewish traditions. He was pained concerning their ignorance about Christ. He volunteered to be cut-off from Christ if that would win over his kinsmen to Christ. Roms 9:1-5, Gal 1:20.

B.      The Children Of Promise: Being a descendant of Abraham does not make one a child of promise. Similarly, not everyone that is a Christian is truly a follower of Christ. Salvation is for the children of promise that came through the child of promise [Isaac] and NOT the child of flesh [Ishmael]. Roms 9:6-8, Gen 21:12, Gal 3:26-29.

C.      God Has A Choice. God chose the seed that came through Sarah rather than Hagar. God decided the fate of Esau and Jacob even before they were born. Why? So that His purpose might be fulfilled. He had a choice on what Jeremiah the prophet should be. God has a choice in the affairs of men. Roms 9:9 & 11-13, Gen 18:14, Gen 17:20-21, Jeremiah 1:5.

D. God Is No Respecter Of Persons.: Whether you be Jew or Gentile, God is no respecter of persons. He made it clear to Moses. Apostle Peter also re-echoed it when he visited Cornelius in Caesarea. Roms 9:15-16, Acts 10:1-2, 34.

E.      God Can Use Anybody.: As part of His prerogative to choose, He used Pharaoh to show His power, so that God’s name be declared throughout the earth. Remember, the Potter has power over the clay. Roms 9:17, Exo 7:13, Exo 9:13-16, Roms 9:21.

F.      Seek Righteousness By Faith And Not By Works: For this reason, Jesus Christ came to show us the way. Roms 9:31-32, Roms 1:17.

OUTLINE 2 [Romans chapter 10]:

A.      Paul’s Desire For Israel: That Israel might be saved. They have the zeal for things of God but go about it the wrong way. They based their righteousness on the law, rather than faith Christ. Roms 10:1-3, Acts 21:20.

B.      Christ Is The End Of The Law. For believers, Jesus Christ is the end of the Law. Our obedience to the Law is no longer the basis of our relationship with God. We have the Word of faith in our mouth and hidden in our heart; so, speak it and do it! Roms 10:4,8, Psalm 119:11, Luke 2:19.

C.      Salvation Is Available to All. Salvation is a gift from God. It is not by works, but by faith. Roms 10:9-10, Matt 10:32.

D.      Call To Duty.  Unbelievers can be saved if they call on the Lord. Can they call on Him if they have not heard about Him? Who will tell them? Roms 10:14-15, Isa 52:7.

E.      How You Can Receive Faith: Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Roms 10:17, Col 3:16.

CONCLUSION

God is sovereign and in Him resides the power to choose. His choice in some cases are beyond human understanding. That is why He is God. Salvation is a gift of God received through faith in Christ Jesus.

Finally, Jesus Christ is our righteousness [Jeremiah 23:6] through faith in Him and not by works.

Thank You Jesus,

Salvation Prayers

If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:

God Has Not Reject Israel, Israel In The Present And Future

God Has Not Reject Israel, Israel In The Present And Future

TEXT: Romans Chapter 11 & 12

INTRODUCTION

Paul’s discussion about God’s plan for the Israelites, which he started in Romans 9 and 10, and continued in chapter 11, insitsts that, though Israel as a nation has rejected Christ, a remnant of Jewish Christians exists (v.5), God has hardened the rest in their unbelief (v.7b) until enough Gentiles have come to salvation through Christ (v.11).

COVENANT RELATIONSHIP BASED ON LAWS

Romans 11:1-11, Gal. 3;24-25, John 1:17, 19:7, Romans 3:20-21, Gal: 2:16, 3:11, According to Paul, God has not rejected Israel forever, despite her refusal to come to Christ. Paul points to himself as the first evidence that God has not rejected Israel, he is an Israelite and a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. He insists that God’s relationship with Israel continues (v.2). Although they remain adamant for now to see that following the law will not bring them God’s righteousness, yet God has not and will not reject them. (Ps 94:14, 1 Sam 12:22) God’s decision on Israel is beyond human comprehension. His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob remains forever (Ps 15:4, lev.26:31-42, Judges 2:1, Heb 6.13)

NEW COVENANT BASED ON FAITH

Romans 11:18-24, 3:27, Gal 2:16,20, Eph 2:8, Col 2:7, Paul called the attention of believers to an essential truth; God has offered Himself to the non-Jewish nations through faith in Jesus, while Israel has rejected the gospel of faith in Christ. Their rejection opened the door of salvation to gentiles and we should not boast (v.18) but be humble and remain grateful, (v.21-22). The covenant was with the patriarch, by faith we are saved and not by works. We must endeavour not to lose our salvation but ensure we guard and keep the faith, so that when the re-grafting start, we will remain rooted in the branch

JEWISH AND GENTILE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST

Romans 12:1-21, Matt 5:1-16, Heb.13:16, Jude 1:3,5-6,

Hebrews 2:1, John 4:23-24, A doctrinal teaching on how to live as Jewish and Gentiles believers today, Paul admonish us to keep away from what led to the rejection of the Jews. We are to be a living, breathing sacrifice in service to God. Our service to God and man must be motivated by genuine love and not eye service. To hate what is evil and hold on to what is good and godly. The great privilege we have as believers should not be thrown away by ignorance and wilful sin. We are God’s temple, be holy, bridle our tongue, avoid worldliness, love all men and worship God in spirit and truth. We must be selfless and not selfish. God centred and not self-centred, serving each other. Do not repay evil for evil and allow God to revenge for you. Never be amongst those who condemn Israel’s lack of faith in Christ (anti-Semitism) but always remember (v.3), for we are not the original branches of the natural Olive. Christians are in no way favoured and superior to the Jews, hold on to the faith. Remember God can add or remove!

REJECTORS OF JESUS CHRIST – Matt.8:12,13:28, 7:21-23,26, Ps 19:7, Rev. 20:15 Those who reject the invitation to salvation will be rejected and cast into eternal darkness.

CONCLUSION: God does not owe us anything but has graciously giving us all things that we need in life, therefore we must show gratitude by serving him diligently with everything, 2 Peter 1:3-4

God is sovereign and in Him resides the power to choose. His choice in some cases are beyond human understanding. That is why He is God. Salvation is a gift of God received through faith in Christ Jesus.

Finally, Jesus Christ is our righteousness [Jeremiah 23:6] through faith in Him and not by works,

Thank You Jesus,

Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ Jesus. Exploring The Benefits That Come With Being Justified Righteous In The Eyes Of God By Our Faith In Christ Jesus

Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ Jesus. Exploring The Benefits That Come With Being Justified Righteous In The Eyes Of God By Our Faith In Christ Jesus

TEXT: ROMANS 5:12-21

INTODUCTION/SUMMARY

The book of Romans is highly praised for clearly articulating key doctrines such as man’s Sinfulness, Justification by faith, Regeneration, Union with Christ, Adoption, and Sanctification. The book of Romans is known for its rich, deep, glorious, and at times unsettling theological assertions and implications.

Running through chapters 1 -4, Paul highlights how humanity deliberately walk and continue to walk in disobedience; and that man, Jews and Gentiles alike needed restoration. He further declares the goal of his apostleship which is to bring about the obedience of faith clarifying that believing and obeying must necessarily go together and should never be pitted against each other.

Today, we are continuing the study looking at chapters 5 and 6, to review Paul’s comparison of Adam and Christ Jesus; and what their choices brought to humanity (world), exploring the benefits that comes with being justified righteous in the eyes of God by our faith in Christ Jesus and negating the common misconception about salvation by grace through faith.

CHAPTER 5:

The key objectives of studying chapter 5 is to further understand how God demonstrated His love for mankind, by taking the first step to reconciliation not waiting for man to be strong and perfect but while we were still sinners sent Jesus Christ to die for us.

2. That we are no longer enemies of God because of sin but reconciled forever children of God through Christ.

3. That by one man (Adam) the whole of humanity was dead in sin and by one man (Jesus Christ) humanity is now dead to sin and restored by faith,.

4. That faith in Christ Jesus, not works is the means by which God declares us righteous and justified.

Outlines:

Faith in Christ Jesus and the cross is the way to salvation/Justification; and therefore the foundation of our walk with God. Is salvation/Justification solely by faith?

Benefits of justification – Rom 5:1-4

• Peace with God

• We stand in God’s grace

• We have hope for eternal glory

By one man’s disobedience all were made sinners – Gen 3, Rom 5:12-14.

Solidarity in guilt implies solidarity in penalty – Romans 6:23, Ezekiel 18:4

Sin and death principle – Psalms 51:5, Psalms 58:3, Job 14:4

By obedience of One (Christ Jesus) all are made righteous by faith Romans 5:15-19

CHAPTER 6:

The key objective in this chapter is

1. Refute the misconception that grace is latitude for sin – Rom 6:1-2.

2. Paul’s admonition that Christians should not continue in sin, once they have been declared righteous by God.

3. How a Christian sees himself is an important component of the “obedience of faith”

Outline

God’s grace is greater than sin: Rom 6:1-2

Crucified with Christ Rom 6:3-6

**Apostle Paul throw more light on what happens when a person comes to faith in Christ on a spiritual level – he said such a person experiences spiritual death to sin, rather than to God; and a rebirth that equals Jesus’ own physical death and resurrection. The person is then raised to a new spiritual life.

Not a slave to sin – Rom 6:4-14

Consider yourself dead to sin – Rom 6:11

Lifestyle of volunteer slavery to righteousness – 6:15-23

THE STUDY OF THE BOOK OF ROMANS. CREATION OF A NEW HUMANITY

THE STUDY OF THE BOOK OF ROMANS. CREATION OF A NEW HUMANITY

TEXT: ROMANS 7:1-7, 12, 21-23, 25; 8:1 – 4, 9-11,14, 35-37

INTRODUCTION: The general theme of Paul’s letter to the church in Rome was the righteousness of God. In our earlier studies, we learnt that all humanity is hopelessly guilty of sin and needs to be rescued. Though the Jewish believed they were better off than the non-Jewish as God gave them the law or Torah to guide the way they lived, we saw that they were wrong, as they are as sinful as the rest of humanity. We learnt that there can be no salvation based on obeying the law. God loves humanity and because of His righteousness, He made provisions for saving humanity by sending Jesus Christ as a Messiah to die as a sacrifice for sin. Jesus also resurrected thereby making life available to all people. Once we have faith in Christ, we are given a new status, become a member of a new family, forgiven our sins, have a new future and can begin a journey of a transformed life by God’s grace. Last week, we examined death through Adam and Life through Christ, emphasizing that justification by faith in Christ creates new humanity and is the only way to salvation. Also, by baptism we identify with the death and resurrection of Jesus to live a new life. We also discussed the availability of Grace, concluding it is always available. Today, we continue to look at God’s creation of a new  humanity, by closely examining the law and its purpose and what the actual problem of humanity is, concluding  in chapter 8 that the real solution is Jesus and the Spirit that enable people fulfil the call of the commands to  love God and their neighbour.

OUTLINE 1

I. FREED FROM THE LAW/AN ILLUSTRATION FROM MARRIAGE – ROMANS 7: 1 – 6:

• Union with Christ frees from bondage of law: Romans 7: 4- 6.

ii. LAW AND SIN – ROMANS 7: 7 – 12

• The law is not sin but reveals what sin is: verse 7.

• Without law, there is no sin and sin is dead. Sin produces evil desires: Romans7: 8; Romans 4:15; 1Corinthians 15:56

• With the law and commandments, all will be guilty and die: Romans 7: 10.

• The Law is holy, just and good – verse 12: 1 Timothy 1:8

iii. INNER CONFLICT/LAW CANNOT SAVE FROM SIN – ROMANS 7: 13 – 25

• The law by itself is spiritual and good because it reveals our sinful nature: Romans7: 14 -16.

• Sin in our natural bodies makes us misbehave – Romans 7:17 – 20; Acts 10:1 -2, 44 – 46.

• Presence of inner conflict – Romans 7:21 – 24;1 Corinthians 10:12; Romans 8: 7 – 8.

• Law cannot save from sin: Romans 7:23 – 25; Romans 8:3

• Be a slave to God’s law – Romans 7:25;

OUTLINE 2

I. SPIRITUAL FREEDOM/FREE FROM INDWELLING SIN – ROMANS 8: 1 – 11

• Justification by Grace through faith in Christ alone – verse 1-4; Galatians 2:19; Romans 5:21; Ephesians 2:8-9.

• Carnal mind vs Spiritual mind/Sanctification and the work of the Holy Spirit: verse 5-11.

ii. LIFE THROUGH THE SPIRIT – ROMANS 8: 12 – 17

• Adopted sonship with the father – verse 14 – 15

• Children of God: Romans 8: 16 – 17.

• Spiritual liberty: Romans 8: 21

• There is a period of waiting with expectation and perseverance– Romans 8:23, 25; Philippians 3:21.

• Intercession of the Holy Spirit according to the will of God: Romans 8: 26 – 27.

• All things work together for good to those who love God; the called according to His purpose: Romans 8: 28.

• Christian calling is a foreordained plan: Romans 8: 29-30; Jeremiah 1:5.

iv. GOD’S EVERLASTING LOVE – ROMANS 8: 31 – 39

• We have confidence in God: Romans 8: 31, 33. If God is for us, who can be against us?

• We are assured of God’s wonderful love: Romans 8:32.

• No condemnation for us as Christ died, is risen and sits at God’s right hand of God interceding for us. Romans 8:34.

• We have spiritual victory through Christ, and nothing shall separate us from the love of Christ. Romans 8: 35- 37.

• Inseparable from the love of God. Romans 8: 38 – 39.

CONCLUSION

God’s plan for humanity is to have a unified church – a faith-based, multi-ethnic family as his covenant children, justified by their faith in Jesus and raised with Him from the dead. Only these members of a new humanity – those born again, who surrender to the lordship of Jesus can truly love him. They are free from the law because they died to sin and have their faith in Jesus who died and paid for their sin. They are the ones that can truly love God and their neighbours. They have been given God’s Spirit and are able to call God their father. They are also co-heirs with Christ and will enjoy blessings kept for God’s children. They are assured of God’s eternal love and are inseparable from the love of God. By contrast, those who seem good to the world but are not saved do not have the Spirit of God in them, so they cannot be God’s. The end for sinners is death, whilst the saved pass on to eternal life and can never perish. John 10:28.
