The Beauty of a Meek and Quiet Spirit by Bishop Keith A. Butler

The Beauty of a Meek and Quiet Spirit by Bishop Keith A. Butler

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

1 Peter 3:4

In God’s sight, a woman’s attitude, her meek and quiet spirit, is extremely valuable. Single men, here is the most important thing you need to evaluate in a woman. It’s not the curves in her legs, her hairstyle, her eye or skin color, her walk, or how she dresses-it’s her attitude that really matters.

One reason it’s so important to look at a woman’s attitude or her character is that her outward characteristics will change. She can work hard to make herself look as good as she can, but she will get older, just as you will. She will accumulate some weight because that comes with age, for both men and women. And although she probably didn’t have a single line in her face when you met her, the older she gets, the more she will have. Therefore, there has to be more to your attraction than just her physicality. What God says is her most important attribute, her meek and quiet spirit, should be what most attracts you to her.

Prayer for Today

Dear Heavenly Father,

I humble myself in Your presence and declare that You’re worthy of all honor and glory. You are holy. You are altogether lovely. I worship You. In Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

May the grace the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!

He is a covenant keeping God

He is a covenant keeping God

Why do we find it hard to take God at His Word?

Psalm 89:34

34My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.

When God promises you something, do you take Him at His Word? Or do you, like Abraham, ask, “Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?” (Genesis 15:8)

God did not reprimand Abraham for failing to take Him at His Word. That is how gracious God is to His people. He even came down to Abraham’s level of faith and did something to assure Abraham that He would always keep His promises—He made a covenant with Abraham. (Genesis 15:9–17)

God did not do it for His own benefit. God is a God of His Word. He does not break His Word. But He bound Himself to a covenant because He knew that Abraham needed to know in his heart that God would do whatever He had promised him.

Man finds it hard to just believe words. For example, when you buy a house, a contract is drawn up and signed by both parties, and lawyers are involved. You need a contract because you cannot trust the other person’s words and he cannot trust yours either.

Likewise, we find it hard to take God at His Word. So God made a covenant with us, not because He cannot be trusted, but because He knows that we find it hard to just believe what He says. God knows that man will wonder, “What if God wakes up on the wrong side of His bed tomorrow and decides to fry me instead of bless me?”

But because God has made a new covenant with us, which is established by the blood of His Son, we can, like Abraham, not waver through unbelief regarding the promises of God, but be strengthened in our faith, being fully persuaded that God will do as He has promised. (Romans 4:20–21) We have the assurance that God will not wake up one day and say, “Forget the new covenant. I want to remember your sins now and curse you instead of bless you!”

The new covenant blessings for you are guaranteed because God has bound Himself to the covenant. And He is a covenant-keeping God who is willing and more than able to do everything He has promised you!

The Iron lady Margaret Thatcher (A Christian Hero)

Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013) was the first (and only) woman to become Prime Minister of the U.K. She rose to power in a time, like today, where her country was in great political and economic turmoil. In the 1970’s, socialist policies had devastated the nation and many in England were literally starving

As Sir Rhodes Boyson, one of her fellow architects of the “Thatcherite Revolution,” explained: “When she became leader of the Conservative Party in 1975, Britain was on the brink of disaster, threatened by total collapse. The weak Labour government with a small majority presided over a bankrupt economy and threatened from within by a challenge to law and order itself. When she was forced from power in 1990, she left a sound economy and a confident and well-ordered society. The lessons are writ large.”

A woman of strong faith and conviction, she had an incredible understanding of the principles that made America a great country. Interviewed in the United States in 1996 she said, “The Ten Commandments are addressed to each and every person. This is the origin of our common humanity and of the sanctity of the individual. Each one has a duty to try to carry out those commandments. You don’t get that in any other political creed…. It is personal liberty with personal responsibility.”

Continuing with Margaret Thatcher’s words: We expect individuals to show “Responsibility to parents, to children, [and] to God. This really binds us together in a way that nothing else does. If you accept freedom, you’ve got to have principles along with responsibility. You can’t do this without a biblical foundation. Your Founding Fathers came over with that. They came over with the doctrines of the New Testament as well as the Old. They looked after one another, not only as a matter of necessity, but as a matter of duty to their God. There is no other country in the world which started that way.”

Margaret Thatcher was a staunch friend of the U.S. and specifically President Ronald Reagan. Through their boldness and determination they cooperated in successfully bringing the Cold War to a peaceful end and defeating the Soviet Union.

We will remember the Iron Lady for her remarkable achievements, but more importantly she modeled a strong and clear belief in Christ and His Word, giving her courage and decisiveness in times of crisis.   She left a legacy of leadership that transformed her nation and the world, inspiring many generations to come.

The torch of Christian liberty, held high for 50 years by Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, has now been officially passed to us. May a loving God comfort the Thatcher’s family and ignite in the hearts of English and Americans alike a love for Him and a willingness to return to His ways.

Amen!

Joshua 11. Joshua conquers the entire land

Joshua Tree

Joshua 11. Joshua conquers the entire land

1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph, 2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west, 3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh. 4 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many. 5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel. 6 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hock their horses, and burn their chariots with fire. 7 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them. 8 And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining. 9 And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he hocked their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire. 12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded. 13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn. 14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

15 As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses. 16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same; 17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them. 18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. 20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses. 21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. 22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Prayer to overcome addictions (smoking, sex, pornography, alcohol, drugs or gambling)

Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for the cross. I thank You that when You died for me, Your blood cleansed me from all my unrighteousness and the sins of my entire life. You are my Lord and Saviour. I give You all my addictions today. I am sick and tired of being defeated and condemned by the accuser – the devil. Today, I confess that because of the blood of Jesus Christ, I am right now the righteousness of God. By the supernatural strength and power of the Holy Spirit who is present to convict me of my righteousness, I will be reminded every day that I am the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour, Amen!

Amen!

Serve like Jesus

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

Serve like Jesus
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we
have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father,
full of grace and truth.”
Jesus, the Word, 100% God, steps out of heaven, takes on the
flesh of humankind, and enters our world. Jesus willingly sets
aside His divine rights. Have the same attitude as that of Jesus:
He made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. Philippians 2:5-7

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Trust In God

Trust in God
Isaiah 30:15 “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel,
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in
trust shall be your strength.”

We fall into the trap that action is the only solvent for the
unexpected problems in life. When many times, we simply need to
live as the Psalmist and “be still and know that He is God” Psalm
46:10. Our comfort won’t come from solving the issues alone, but
knowing God and His ways during our busy life.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

The Blood Of Jesus Christ.

The Blood of Jesus Christ

How much more . . . will the blood of Christ . . . cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death.

Hebrews 9:14, NIV

Do you know people who arrogantly insist that if their good works outweigh their bad works, God is somehow obligated to accept them? As you look around, what “fruit” do you see others bringing to the place of sacrifice instead of humbly approaching God through the blood of His Son? The “fruit” of

religious activity,

good works,

morality,

or philanthropy?

Many people do not want to come to the place of sacrifice, the Cross of Jesus Christ, because it intensifies the conviction of their own sin and judgment and is a reminder that heaven’s gate is closed to sinners. God warns that “a man is not justified by observing the law,” (Gal. 2:16, NIV) because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” of sin (Heb. 9:22, NIV). So humble yourself, come to the Cross, and thank God for the blood of Jesus that is sufficient to forgive any and all sin

Amen!
